Used BMW 330
The BMW 330 is the big brother of its little 325 sister – all grown up and ready to rumble. The 330 is a 3 series, but with more horsepower and better handling characteristics. There are several different models available, namely the 330xi sedan, the 330ci coupe and a couple of diesel models, the 330d and 330xd as well. There are different models as well that optionally come with all wheel drive depending on the model, year and option package selected.
The 330 makes an excellent used car purchase because it has now been depreciated in favor of the newer 335 models. That means that lots of auction bargains are available on the used market and you’ll more than likely find a great deal on a great vehicle. The amount you’ll pay for a used car varies dramatically based on a variety of factors from engine condition, miles on the vehicle, color and appearance packages, service records to crash history and many other factors. Look for quality maintenance records from BMW authorized dealers or repair shops in order to make sure that you’re getting a top quality used vehicle – even better, try to find a dealer “certified” vehicle. You will pay more, but you will get added warranty service that doesn’t typically come with a used car.
The BMW 330 was widely respected and universally loved in the segment of the market it occupied. AutoWeek said: “Functional and understated, this is simply one of the best interiors available”. Also, Automobile Magazine was quoted as saying” “A perfect 10 – beauty, athleticism and peerless build quality in one tidy package”. Generally, most user reviews and car enthusiast reviews were positive for this make and model, though there were a few detracting comments. Most complaints where directed at the lack of rear-seat room and cramped feeling in general of the back seat and rear cabin space. New Car Test Drive stated: “Bear in mind that the 3 Series is a compact. If rear cabin space is a top priority, you can find more for your money elsewhere.”
One of your other main concerns when purchasing any car should be the safety record of that model of car. The BMW 330 was rated as either 4 or 5 stars in all frontal and side test ratings by NHTSA (this data applies to the 2006 model, things may vary when it comes to other models, so check accordingly). The ratings for the rear-wheel versus all wheel drive models were pretty much identical.
